IMPULS - Services for Prevention and Early Intervention in Neuro-psycho-motor Disorders
Every child has his own rhythm of growth and development. Some of them grow slower and need more support to catch up with the others. This program was created to support these children and to guide their parents.
The IMPULS - Prevention And Early Intervention In neuro-psycho-motor Disorders Disorders Center has been established in 2003 with the financial support of PHARE Civil Society 2001 - Social Access Component in partnership with Zonnelied VYW-Belgium, The Mures County Assistance Division, Gecse Dániel Foundation and SOWECO NV - Holland.
The Center continuously collaborates with The Neonatology Clinic, the Premature Birth Clinic from the Mures County Clinical Hospital and with neuro-psychiatrists and family doctors from Tg. Mures.
To be able and start this program Alpha Transilvana Foundation received an approximate 119.908 Euro financing.
Until now, over 1000 children enjoyed the benefits of the professional interventions offered by this program.
The brain has the ability to regenerate remarkably in the first few years following birth, sometimes leading to the significant alleviation or even to the complete elimination of the symptomology. This well known fact was the trigger of creating the IMPULS Center.
Through a wide range of therapeutic measures and interventions, specialists at the IMPULS center have as the main goal the reduction or even elimination of the delays in neuro-psycho-motor development at children between 0-3 years and to counsel and assist their parents.
Prevention is easier than treatment
The services of the IMPULS are based on the belief that prevention is more efficient, easier and cheaper than the actual treatment of diseases that have already occurred. That is why, at IMPULS we work on two major lines: prevention and early intervention. There are relaxation and sensorial stimulation programs offered as completion of our prevention and recovery efforts. These stimulations are meant to enhance the effectiveness of the therapeutic measures for children with problems or simply to enrich the emotional experience and/or facilitate discovery and knowledge of the environment for healthy children.
Latest equipment and accessories
IMPULS Centre features the latest equipment and accessories, specific to the Center's profile: sensorial stimulation (visual, auditory, tactile, kinesthetic, vestibular, olfactory) and relaxation room (multicolored water tubes, hi-fi projector, suspended globe, heated water bed), rooms designed specifically for physiotherapy and psycho pedagogical intervention.
What is our purpose?
Through this type of service we intend to:
1. identify as early as possible the appearance of development disorders or the apparition of the risks of these disorders at children
2. include these children in the monitoring or intervention program to prevent developmental delays or to diminish the effects of these delays.
Whom for?
1. children with a high risk of development disorder appearance
- Apgar index under 7
- Necessity for intensive therapy immediately after birth
- period of pregnancy under 37 weeks
- birth weight under 2000 g
2. children who have various developmental delays
What do we do?
- we make a psycho pedagogical, physiotherapeutic and psychological evaluation of the child
- we make physiotherapeutic, psycho pedagogical and psychological interventions
- monitor the evolution of the mental and motor development of the child
we inform and support parents
